Culvert Maintenance

Falling leaves are the most common cause of catch basin and culvert drainage problems,  The Whatcom County Public Works Department reminds local residents that maintenance of driveway culverts (including removal of weeds, brush, rocks, dirt and other debris) is the property owner's responsibility

FIRE DISTRICT 18 ANNOUNCEMENT: EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.

No experience necessary, we will train you.
Answer emergency medical calls only, no fire academy or fire training needed.
Current medically trained volunteers welcome.
If serving your community as an EMT or greater without having to become a firefighter interests you, call us, your community needs you!
Over 80% of Fire District 18 alarms are medical related.  Every thing from traumatic injuries to cardiac arrest.

GLC MEMBERS APPROVE NEW AMENDED GOVERNING DOCUMENTS

At the July 17, 2010 Special Members Meeting, GLC members voted overwhelming to approve the proposed changes to GLC's Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. 

The proposed changes to the Covenants and Restrictions which would have given the Board authority to establish areas  on Glenhaven property for dog exercising was not passed due to an insufficient number of members voting on the proposed change.


Skagit Organic Gardeners
‘SOG’

Meetings start September 28th, 2010, (continuing on the 4th Tuesday of each month) until June 2011.  1:30PM at the Washington Federal, 300 East Fairhaven in Burlington. We invite you to join us and share in gardening fun.  September meeting topic:  "Saving Seeds for Spring Gardens."  Please come and suggest your interests for the future meetings.

Our members are from the Glenhaven, Alger, & Mt. Vernon areas.  Goal of Club: Organic gardening & protection of the environment. (males-5, females-7). Spring of 2010 Project:  Members, with the help of “Girl Scout Troop # 40468”, have created a Community Garden that will supply food to the Alger Food Bank. This will also educated the young in gardening skills.
